Monasterio San Juan de la Peña, is one of the most visited tourist spots in the Community of Aragon.
The Hospedería, a jewel of great historical and artistic value, is part of a monumental ensemble located in the spectacular protected natural setting of San Juan de la Peña and Peña Oroel.
A dense forest of beech, pine, fir, hazel and holly trees surrounds the huge meadow of San Indalecio, where the Monasterio Alto (current Hospedería) of the 17th century is located.
Integrated in the same monumental set we find the “Kingdom Of Aragon” Interpretation Centre and The “Monastery San Juan De La Peña” Interpretation Centre, modern interactive areas of great interest. A short walk will take us to the Pyrenees Balcony, where we can see a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains.

An ideal destination
Hospedería San Juan de la Peña is very close to Jaca and the ski resorts of Astún and Candanchú, which makes it an ideal destination for winter sports lovers.
Apart from the beauty of the natural environment and the monastery, the Interpretation Centres dedicated to the Crown and the Kingdom of Aragon and monastic life, open at the same time as the Hospedería(June 2007) add more interest to the area.
A few kilometers away, and into Camino de Santiago, the Old Monastery, witnessed the birth of the Kingdom of Aragon and the passage of the Holy Grail. Nestled under rock walls, this Aragonese Romanesque jewel hoards two churches, the royal pantheon and highly original cloister, covered by rock and beautiful capitals.
